Remember snow-boarding the back-country of British Columbia, exploring the Chinese countryside, or sipping kava in Fiji? Now you have a kid… or kids. Many adventurous people allow themselves to fall into a rut of only child oriented activities rendering an otherwise active person into a non-stop chauffeur. It doesn't have to be that way. Traveling with your child is possible. In fact, traveling the world, or even the country-side, offers your children a unique perspective on a variety of activities and cultures. It pulls them away from the game console or sit-com and encourages them to explore with all their senses. Gazing upon the surreal serenity of a Grand Canyon morning, listening to the howler monkeys echo through the tops of the rainforest canopy, or tasting the essence of freshly harvested mango. These are memories that will live on long past the next version of Vice City. Traveling with children presents new challenges, but the obstacles are easily overcome with proper planning. The intent of Magellan's Child is to create a resource that will greatly assist in the travel planning process. In doing this, we hope to introduce the adventurous spirit of yesterday's explorers to the next generation. Magellan's Child is a compilation of experiences and acquired knowledge of those who have traveled before us. As you wander through this great world with your family, be it your home town or some exotic locale, it is our hope that you will return to this site to share your experiences with others. |
